In follow-up to my last post - Fashion Week - Street Style Trends, I decided to share some additional trends that were seen on the streets in September and that are still prevalent in the shops. With the holiday season upon us, hopefully these trends will offer you some styling inspiration but also some gift-giving ideas.

“Of course,” HE replied.
Today we’re going to discuss a new twist on an old ritual: Why is it that the male always has to get down on bended knee and propose marriage to the female? Why can’t the reverse happen?

Americans love people with lots of spirit – individuals who are willing to push boundaries – in the best sense of the word. And, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, has done this with her flair for fashions that really work. This is why we love her.

After reading about Dolce & Gabbana’s new shop at 155 Mercer Street in Manhattan’s SoHo, I decided to pay a visit to see these digs for myself. On Friday, August 17th when it was close to 90 degrees F. I took the Downtown #6 subway and got off at Spring Street (a 10-minute trip). This left me at Spring/Lafayette and from there I walked west to Mercer where I crossed the street and took a short walk to 155 – all told a fairly easy jaunt.

There is something fun about watching the designer's vision on the runway. Yes, not all of the looks are practical, but it helps to bring what once were drawings and ideas to life. That part of the creative process is interesting to me. When it comes to street style, I have grown to appreciate this fashion scene.

Like every female over the age of ten in America, I know that Manolo Blahnik designs and makes fabulous shoes for women. Full disclosure: I hate shoes and would go barefoot down Fifth Avenue if I dared. I opt for black, simple, utilitarian, low-heeled shoes that do not have the word “pain” written all over them. But, most important: can I walk for miles in them? In Manhattan we all walk everywhere.

The big four fashion shows - New York, London, Milan and Paris - have come to a close and what a whirlwind it was. In this multi-part series, we are going to take a look at some of the highlights from the shows and trends seen on and off of the runway. To get this series kicked off, I'm going to recap some of the more newsworthy happenings from each city.

I recently came across an article in Marie Claire magazine dated June 2018 with the headline, “How to Choose a Partner” by Pamela Druckerman. Below the head was an intriguing subhead: “In this exclusive exerpt from her new book, There Are No Grown-Ups, the author reflects on how she ditched boys and found a man.”

I love to read about young women in unusual jobs – and this one really had my eyes out on stems. The job description itself is fairly technical so I’m breaking it up into “bites in plain English” to make it easier to grasp.

A LONDON ART AUCTION
On Tuesday, June 26, 2018 I decided to watch Sotheby’s “Contemporary Art Evening Auction” taking place in London at 7:00 BST pm (2:00 pm in NYC), on my desktop computer with its big 21” screen (measured diagonally).

As we all know, the retail business is in a state of flux: Henri Bendel is shutting its doors after 123 years, Lord & Taylor is closing its Fifth Avenue flagship store after 104 years and Ralph Lauren’s Fifth Avenue store is no more. (In 2017 there were 50 retail CEOs dismissed. Not in New York – in London.) Is there any good news anywhere?

I recently came across an article titled Picturesque Patagonia – a Cruise Along the Southern Coast of Chile in the April 2018 issue of International Travel News, a publication that is based in Sacramento, California. This is a monthly foreign-travel magazine that covers everywhere in the world – except the United States.
