After finishing up with a client in the shoe department at Lord & Taylor, I headed out the exit next to the handbag and accessory department and was immediately stopped in my tracks by the most perfect leather backpack that I had ever laid eyes on.
As the summer rolls in it is time to spend more time outside and less time plugged in. While my children would probably love it if the television reached the backyard, we make a big effort that we spend hours outside this time of year. After our harsh New England winter we all need it!

Well, it came to me on Sunday afternoon when Lillyana got her bum stuck in a bucket. Yes, you read the right. Her rear end was wedged into a five gallon bucket that the kids had filled with water and were playing with.
Salads definitely came into their own within the past year or so, going from a bunch of wilted lettuce with a blob of dressing to composed and thoughtful dishes. But composed and thoughtful doesn't necessarily mean complex. This roasted romaine is a step above that tired old salad but takes little time to prepare and has few ingredients. It's simple while still big on flavor.
