Leaving your comfort zone
February 04, 2015
Why not shake things up a bit in 2015? Go places and do things that you’ve never done before. Look at life from a different vantage point.
To begin, let’s compare two different spots in New York, namely: the Metropolitan Museum versus Chelsea’s art galleries. (You can use the same approach where you live. Pick two spots that are the same – but different.)
Tips on Rocking Leggings: Part Two
February 01, 2015
For this second part of the series on Rocking Leggings, I wanted to offer some styling tips. In case you missed Part One, you can find the post here: Tips on Rocking Leggings: Part One, where I offer advice on what you should look for when finding your ideal pair of leggings.
The beauty of leggings is truly their versatility. They are that one staple that can help make us feel chic, even when we are under the weather or not in the mood for a pair of jeans or trousers.
The catch to Rocking Leggings, though, is to making something that seems so basic look stylish. Here are some styling tips on what you can pair your leggings with to help you rock your next legging look:
Stylish Fashions in Movies
January 28, 2015
Do films still have an influence on the world of fashion? “I don’t think there’s a connection any longer,” says Simon Doonan. I totally agree. Today, style trends in movies have been replaced by TV shows such as Scandal or Sex in the City where Carrie Bradshaw sparked a run on Manolo Blahnik stilettos.
However, there is still a fascination with what we see on the big screen. Taking an example from each decade, here is a brief list of memorable fashions in film.
Scouting for locations
January 22, 2015
From sourcing fabrics to testing out new styles, there's never a boring moment at Adea. One of the most exciting parts of the job, in my opinion, is scouting locations for our photo shoots. For us, in particular, it can be challenging to find a backdrop that won't drown out our basics. Ornate furniture, harsh surroundings or lots of bright color can detract from the minimalistic look and feel of Adea's bodywear. We require just the right amount of background texture and architectural interest to compliment the simplicity of our products. Not too much, yet not too little.
The Challenge of Succession
January 21, 2015
A fashion designer is a creative entrepreneur with a powerful will and vision that can ultimately result in dazzling success. But what happens when this talented individual is gone? If no successor has been named the search for a replacement can be a harrowing ordeal.

Leggings can be the most comfortable item of clothing you own, so the only point of contention for many is how to look stylish when wearing them.

Weighing in on Size
January 14, 2015
What hits your eye as soon as you enter Manhattan’s Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle? For me, it’s the enormous bronze sculptures of Adam and Eve by famed South American artist, Fernando Botero.
As one gazes at the voluptuous form of Eve, in all her glory, does one think, “There’s a plus-size!” No! One simply accepts that this is – yet another – exciting and acceptable version of the female form. So why can’t we do this in real life?
A New Look at Age
January 07, 2015
Here’s some food for thought. As we enter 2015 let’s take a look at one of the stunning anomalies in America today: the lack of older models in advertising – especially for products and fashions that are purchased by this age group.
A fascinating article in my favorite newspaper, the weekend Financial Times of 11/8-9 has explored this topic under the title Cosmetics and Fashion Eye New Sales Front.
